My great-aunt, Mabel Skinner Longmore, 1920's. She was a school teacher, one of the few professions open to women of her generation. If she'd had the option she would have been a good lawyer or maybe a successful real estate agent. As she was of the generation who fought the First World War there were few eligible men about when she was this age. She finally did get married in her 70's to a rich older(!) man.
